When doing below ground property sewer whether it’s an extension of an existing pipe or a new sewer installation, you must always fill out and lodge a complex plumbing application form and a plan drawing of the proposed sewer works, this can be done by your plumber or someone who has an understanding of plan works. This form can be downloaded from the corresponding water authority such as South East Water, City West Water or Yarra Valley Water which ever water authority is applicable to you in your area. Always allow 3 weeks or more for your form to be assessed and ask about the application cost which covers the inspection of the sewer as mentioned below. 

If the application is approved the authority will reply with the consent number or also known as the PIC No. Once received PIC No. the sewer must be installed and be prepared by the plumber for an Inspection. If the inspector approves the works you can back-fill and complete the job.
